Young world quiz 2012 Visakhapatnam regional round Review

Visakhapatnam city is at sizzling hot at an hour past noon of fag end of the November ,but at Port kalavani Auditorium situation is different where climate filled with joy and tense, there 348 teams line up for the preliminary quiz, which is in the format of 25 questions written paper to select 6 finalists for the Oral.
Final format is a power point presentation of 24 questions out of which choice have given to all the teams to choose their question number, what the Quiz Master going to pose.
The 24 questions fitted into four categories
1) Be the quiz master ( answer given and team has to frame a question)
2) Galleries
3) India quiz (questions pertaining to Indian context)
4) Sight & Sound (simply audio visual round)

All questions are of   buzzer ,whom so ever first buzz if they correctly answer they get 15 points and a wrong answer takes away 10 marks, this rule applies applies to the buzzer teams only.
Answer has to write down, not allowed to reveal on mike(Mike helps to choose a question number), same question passes to other teams and they also get marks 1 point greater than the previous team in ascending order.
Mean while One International sports woman photo hidden under a opaque small squares and for each question passes, removal of one square block from the image to reveal the photo step by step for the correct answer they get 40 marks and if it is wrong they lose 20 marks, Jessica Jacob from Kakinada rushes with the answer "Saina Nehwal" and they got 40 points later all teams got marks for the same photo in descending order of marks 28 points or 22 points after seeing almost clear picture.
                                      One way we can say It is an easy quiz as teams couldn’t answer 5 questions only and left for audience in turn audience also failed to answer these three questions , five letter word for a mixture of the leaves to protect newly planted trees, and in how many days did Mahatma Gandhi traveled on foot from Sabarmathi to Dandi in 241 km , for these two questions audience bestowed with a bag and lunch coupon. Three questions un answered by teams as well as audience are stadium named after ww1 flying ace, question on local flavor visual shown a stamp on former CM of Andhra Pradesh, An audio clip from Tom cruise's movie and also QM wants to know the two main persons from the four member band that composed the song.
    Most embarrassing part of the quiz is for the audience questions one for Kasu brahmannada reddy, portrait on the stamp,girl tries to answer but even she couldn't spell the name properly as she listen first time such a name, another answer regarding music Band name for the audio clip from the Mission Impossible ,in fact the quiz is intended for class 7 to 9, a class 6th kid tries to answer and caught by the Quiz master,for a direct question who helped you ? kid replied that his teacher helped who sat adjacent to him. Teachers and parents helping their wards that particular thing keenly observed by the quiz master and He cautioned about such helps, as it is against quiz spirit.
   For the unanswered five questions, two answers are MULCH and 24 days for that they rewarded with a Bag and lunch coupon.
Quiz master answered Tennis stadium name after Rolland Garros where French open conducts every year, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and from the Mission Impossible, music composed by U2 band by two persons Larry Muller & Adam Clayton.
     Out of 24 final oral questions only these five are tough and remaining all dead easy, if anybody feel difficult to the balance 19 questions simply i can tell they couldn’t understand Hindu young world quiz properly.

       In my humble opinion Quiz master V.V Ramanan might have framed the question in a better way, how we know a centenary year whether leap or not ? Question was lengthy,given clue "this year" also misleading, two or three teams gave wrong answer as the question was not clear.
    Kakinada team sat at position 1 gave part answers for two questions, Yakshagana they answered Kanarnataka and for another surya's handicapped charioteer she gave Aruna and failed to complete his brothers name Garuda, aptly catch the next team,Team No.6, Delhi public school for these two questions.
    I sincerely   agrees with the words of guest of the day, CEO of Symbiosis tech, the students have to develop the habit of learning from each failure in the days to come.

I had conducted a model quiz on the same lines of Hindu young world quiz a couple of days before this mega event, where myself sponsored Trophy as well as all prizes and goodies to audience. Teams with First place and the third place here they just Interchanged their positions. Here Chaitanya public school team stood at first place and DPS in third.
